For over a century Hephzibah Children’s Home has been serving the needs of children and families who are homeless, orphaned, abused, and neglected. Our passion is driven by Christ’s command to “offer a cup of cold water” in Jesus’ name and to provide loving, caring, professional, and passionate service to those that are in need.
Ownership & History
Hephzibah Children’s Home is an auxiliary ministry of the Wesleyan Church International. We are governed by a board of directors of highly professional individuals who are all serving voluntarily and who elect the CEO of Hephzibah Children’s Home.
Over the past century of service, there have been many changes…
In the early 1900s we were known as Hephzibah Orphanage. As the number of ‘true’ orphans declined and the need for residential foster care increased we then became known as Hephzibah Children’s Home.
In 2005 it become obvious to the Board of Directors that due to the restructuring of the state in reference to residential child care and the many opportunities that would be afforded us with our beautiful 205 acre campus, the organization would position itself to meet a diversity of needs in our community, state and nation. As a result, we developed the umbrella organization Hephzibah Ministries Inc. with the Children’s Home providing the residential care for the children in our charge.
Services would include not only residential childcare but an ever increasing expansion of care for a greater population. This diversity of services would include Hephzibah Behavioral Health Services (HBHS) which opened in 2007 as an outpatient mental health and substance abuse counseling center. We are also following God’s leading into the field of residential living for senior adults and residential living for physically and mentally challenged individuals and to help those that have been rescued from the human-trafficking industry. We are working with leaders in these fields to help accomplish the mission God has placed on our hearts.
