Ownership & History
Hephzibah Ministries, Inc. is an auxiliary ministry of the Wesleyan Church International and is governed by a highly professional Board of Directors who serve voluntarily and elect the CEO.
Over the past century of service, there have been many changes…
In the early 1900s Hephzibah Ministries was known as Hephzibah Orphanage. As the number of ‘true’ orphans declined and the need for residential foster care increased the name was changed to Hephzibah Children’s Home.
In 2005 the Board of Directors realized that due to the restructuring of the state in regards to residential childcare and the many opportunities that would be afforded the organization with our beautiful 205 acre campus, Hephzibah would benefit greatly by positioning itself to meet a diversity of needs. As a result, Hephzibah Ministries, Inc. became the umbrella organization over two subsidiary agencies providing services, Hephzibah Children’s Home, Inc. providing the residential care and Hephzibah Behavioral Health Services, Inc. providing behavioral and mental health services.
Services now include not only residential childcare but an ever increasing expansion of care for a greater population. This diversity of services would include Hephzibah Behavioral Health Services (HBHS) which opened in 2007 as an outpatient mental health and substance abuse counseling center. We are also following God’s leading into the field of residential living for senior adults and residential living for physically and mentally challenged individuals and to help those that have been rescued from the human-trafficking industry. We are working with leaders in these fields to help accomplish the mission God has placed on our hearts.
