Entrance To Hephzibah
Welcome
to Hephzibah Children's Home virtual tour.
You are entering through our brick entry way down the 1/2 mile driveway to the main campus.
The Administration Building
The Administration Building is approximately 6,500 sq. ft of office space. It
is home to the administrative offices, counselors, and serves as our
"welcome center" for visitors.
The Dining Hall
This is a beautiful facility with a seating capacity of up to 300 people. The children and staff eat three meals each weekday in the dining hall.
Interior of the dining hall
The dining area has a high ceiling and is decorated with
crystal
chandeliers and a stone fireplace. Windows cover the back wall
allowing for a picturesque view of the woods and wildlife.
Creek-side Deck at the Dining Hall
A large expansive deck is located on the back of the dining hall
overlooking the Colaparchee Creek.
One of Six Resident Homes
The children live in these beautiful brick homes. Each home is
identical in size and structure and has room enough for ten children
and their house parents. On the main floor, you will find a living
room, five bedrooms, an office, laundry room and a bathroom large
enough to accommodate many children at one time. On the lower level
is a family room and the kitchen/dining room including a long table
with 12 chairs.
Maintenance Building
This building was actually the gymnasium from the old campus. It was dismantled and rebuilt on the new site. It makes a wonderful and spacious place for the maintenance department.
RV Park
Located next to the maintenance building are 14 spaces for
volunteers to park their RV's during their stay as they serve with
willing hands and hearts.
Bettie Tyler Home
Built in 1835 and used for an orphanage in 1900. This was the original home of Miss Bettie Tyler. The old home was discovered and moved to the new site in the fall of 2000. It was donated by the owners and restored by volunteers. Today, the home sits on its original foundation of fieldstones and the brick in the chimney is also original to the home.
The Elizabeth Home
This is a "dream come true". The Board of Directors had a deep desire to do something about teen pregnancy and the abortion rate in our nation. The building was completed in the fall of 1999. The Elizabeth Home serves unwed young women ages 12 -24 who have no family to turn to in their time of need.
The expectant mothers are provided with an excellent program that
offers opportunities to continue their education, learn parental
skills and participate in spiritual development and private therapy.
Local doctors and hospitals provide professional prenatal and
postnatal care.
The Teen Parent Home
Young mothers, ages 12 - 18, are taught
how to care for themselves and their baby. The new mothers are
encouraged to continue their education and to prepare themselves for
total independence.
Recreation Complex
The recreation complex sits on an eight acres. The complex offers
a variety of activities to be enjoyed by the children and the
community.
The Gymnasium
This is a state-of-the-art facility with a
basketball court and a heated indoor swimming pool. The facility
also includes a weight room, kitchen, offices and meeting rooms.
Concession Stand
The concessions stand is operated by Hephzibah Children's Home
during special events. Under the guidance of the Recreation
Director, our young people are given the opportunity to learn how to
handle working with people.
Neyman Picnic Pavilion
A great spot for the residents to get together for cookouts, birthday parties and field day gatherings. It helps to promote a sense of community and family. This facility was built in honor of the Rev. and Mrs. Joe Neyman, former director of the Home.
The Playground
A great place for the children to play and be safe.
The Soccer Fields and Baseball Field
These ball fields provide a wonderful place for our children to run and play ball. The fields are also used by various community groups.
The Fishing Lake
Hephzibah's 200 acres are evenly divided by the Colarparchee
Creek. The fishing pond and Bethlehem Stables are located to the
west-side of the creek. The three-acre pond is stocked with bass and
bream. It provides a great outdoor activity for all of our
"little and big" fisher persons.
The Pet Therapy Center
The children and young people interact with the animals at the
Stables by learning to train, feed, clean and care for them. By
forming a bond with the animals our children can learn to trust
again and accept unconditional love.
Farm House
Farmer LaVerne and his wife Marilyn care for the farm and the
animals.
